Due to the club hosting the Charity Golf Day at Kooringal Golf Club, Altona on
Friday March 19th
there will be no meeting at Lifesaving Victoria on
Wednesday 17th March.
Please note this will be our weekly Rotary Club of Albert Park Meeting 6.30 start 2 course dinner.

March Is Rotary Literacy Month

Rotary Literacy Month highlights literacy and education issues around the
world. Celebrated in March each year, Rotary Literacy Month is an excellent
opportunity for Rotary clubs and districts to raise awareness about literacy,
launch new literacy initiatives and projects, and recognize literacy accomplishments
from the past year. Rotarians everywhere are encouraged to participate in Rotary Literacy Month by engaging in service or activities that specifically address literacy and education issues either in their communities or abroad.

BBQs - Super Sunset Series - Volunteers Required
The Rotary Club of Albert Park have been very busy assisting Melbourne City Sports holding BBQ's for
The Super Sunset Series runs held during Feb and March.
Many volunteers from the club gave their time to assist at one or more of the 4 events held around Melbourne.
Each event was most successful with the club being recognised for their contribution with funds being forwarded to our club for their involvement. These funds to be used as decided by the board.
Many thanks to David Gorman and Stan Teschke for the main organising and to all of the rotarians who assisted on any of the four bbq's.

Help Team Sanitarium Junior Try-athlon.
On Sunday March 12, 2010 several members from the Rotary Club of Albert Park took part as volunteers for the HELP TEAM at the Sanitarium Try-athlon. Members were placed into various areas, ensuring safety and control so the event could run successfully. A few thousand children attended on the day aged between 7 and 15 competing in first a swim then a bike ride and finally a run. The Help Team Volunteers arived at 6am to be briefed and allocated an area to control. The event was held at Catani Gardens, St Kilda and finished at 11.30am
A big thankyou to Liz Denittis from our club for organising members and young adults to take part in this event. The club will also be given funds from Sanitarium for their participation.
A thankyou also to the following members who gave their time for this event.

MUNA
MUNA: 14 - 16 May

The Rotary Club of Albert Park will be sponsoring six students (three teams of two) from MacRobertson Girls' High School
-
Cost will be $1650 (registration - $250 per student and $50 per team towards national costumes)
-
Bendigo Sandhurst is the host Club this year and they have decide to hold this year's MUNA at the LatrobeUniversity campus in Bendigo.
-
The students will be accommodated at Rotary's CampGetaway at Axedale
-
It is our Club's responsibility to transport our participants to CampGetaway by 7pm on Friday and to collect them from the University at 3pm on the Sunday
